Nestled behind our showroom in the West End of Fremantle, you’ll find the port city’s newest little food gem, Café deBretton and Bennett.

It’s a beautifully decorated space made up of three different zones – there’s the cosy kitchen cove, a converted alleyway draped in trailing plants and Moroccan lanterns, and a cool little courtyard that, when the suns not shining, is kept toasty with a roaring fire.

At the helm is head chef Natalie Bennett and we recently welcomed sous chef Christian Benet to the team, all the way from France. Together, Natalie and Christian whip up a mix of hearty French Provincial fare and healthy, wholesome treats.

Cooked daily are traditional dishes like beef cheek bourguignon in a red wine jus and chicken coq au vin in a creamy champagne sauce. Farmhouse pates, baked tarts and lighter meals such as our green bowls and salads balance out the more indulgent plates. The smoked salmon, preserved lemon and avocado green bowl is my go-to for lunch on the run.

The daily selection of cakes includes delights such as Warm Chestnut and Chocolate Fondant, Pistachio and Lime Flourless Torte and Pear and Ginger Syrup Cake. While our barista brews up the good stuff using Gesha Coffee beans.

Just a few steps away from the hustle and bustle of High Street, the café is a great spot for a team lunch or a catch up with the girls. And with its modern, industrial aesthetic, the space can be booked for events, too. It can seat up to 100 and is available for day or night hire. Full tapas, catering and beverage packages are on offer.
